The top ten of the best games of the generation (according to critics and developers)

The current generation of PS4 e Xbox One is about to come to an end, thus giving space to the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.

At the end, the question arises: what are the ten best games of the generation now at sunset? During the PAX Online x EGX Digital, strictly streaming event created in collaboration with Eurogamer.net, a jury of critics and developers has drawn up a ranking with the Top 10 of the best titles released in this generation.

The expert jury is made up of professionals such as Sam Barlow (Her Story), Mike Bithell (Thomas Was Alone), Greg Kasavin (Bastion), Ralph Fulton (Fable), Rami Ismail (Nuclear Throne), Rhianna Pratchett (Heavenly Sword) ), Erik Wolpaw (Psychonauts), Derek Yu (Splunky), host Chris Plante, journalist Jason Schreier, and more.

2. Bloodborne
3. Outer Wilds

To soar on the podium, we find the monumental Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link’s latest original adventure available since the launch of Nintendo Switch. In second position Bloodborne, FromSoftware’s fantastic soulslike gothic hue, followed in third place by Outer Wilds, the 2019 game developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive.

Regarding specifically Zelda, here are the words of developer Dan Marshall:

This is obviously one of the best games ever made. Aesthetically it’s not my thing, the dialogue and acting are a little creepy, but the actual gameplay is simply amazing. [..] It’s fluid, exciting, and playable, it’s just an absolute joy to play from start to finish.

We will see if the next gen, now at the gates, will be able to propose masterpieces equal to those of the generation now running out!
