The third stage of “Run Riga” will take place in Grīziņkalns Park – Riga

On Thursday, July 21, the running series “Run Riga” will continue. Athletes and lovers of active recreation will be able to get to know another area of the capital – Grīziņkalns Park.

Participants are invited to apply for a 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer or health distance, but children will have the opportunity to do the usual 500-800 meters. Registration for the competition and additional information is available on the website www.izskrienrigu.lv.

“Grīziņkalns will be the location of the third part of the season and will mark the middle of the season of the series. It will be interesting in that it will have small hills so could be more challenging. The established tradition of moving the competition day from the weekend to one of the weekday evenings continues – this time, too, runners can not worry about missing another competition on the weekend and go to “Run Riga” on Thursday evening, thus using this running series as training in a nice and in a friendly atmosphere for some other competition,” emphasizes organizer Jānis Vanags.

At the end of the running series “Izskrien Rīgu”, the best runners in the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer distances will be awarded, where points are awarded for each stage, and the best participants in the last stage of the season will win overall awards.

On the other hand, participants who have participated and obtained results in at least four stages will receive commemorative awards of the overall evaluation with the event’s symbolism. This year’s novelty is the competition of teams and families, where employees of various companies, representatives of sports clubs, as well as families are invited to participate. At the end of the season, the fastest of all teams and families will be awarded with honorary pretzels.

The event is open to all groups of society, and it is free for children and health distance participants. In June, 1397 participants took part in the 1st and 2nd stages of “Izskrien Rīgu”, which took place in Viesturdārz and Ēbelmuiža Park. In August, supporters of a healthy lifestyle will be welcomed in Dzegužkalns and Arkadija Park, where the 4th and 5th stages of this season will take place.

The competition is supported by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of Riga City Council. They are organized by the “Adventure Competitions Association” in cooperation with SIA “XEVENTS”.
