Reuters reported that on the 26th local time,IsraelandHamasOn the third day of the truce agreement, Hamas released 17 hostages, including 13 Israelis, 3 Thais and 1 Russian citizen, while Israel released 39 morePalestineprisoner.
The International Committee of the Red Cross also confirmed that the hostages were successfully transferred from Gaza.
In addition, among the released hostages is a four-year-old Israeli-American girl, Abigail Edan, who is the first American citizen to be released after the Israeli-Palestinian armistice.
U.S. President Joe Biden said that Eden saw her parents killed by Hamas with her own eyes, and “what she endured is unimaginable.”
Hamas raided Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and taking about 240 hostages. Israel immediately retaliated and a tail-end conflict broke out. The four-day truce is the first suspension of fighting in the conflict for seven consecutive weeks.
