The Term of PCR and Rapid Test is Extended, This Impacts on the Aviation Industry

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is optimistic that flight traffic will increase in July 2020 in line with the Circular Letter of Task Force for the Covid-19 Handling Acceleration which extends the validity period of results rapid test and PCR.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said with a longer validity period, passengers could manage time more flexibly. Not only that, he predicted that the increase in flight traffic could increase from July 2020.

The state-owned operator also set July as a recovery phase amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.

“We predict the number of passengers at 19 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II in July 2020 could increase by around 20-25 percent compared to June 2020,” he said Sunday (6/28/2020).

As noted in June 2020, aircraft traffic at the company’s 19 airports was 500-550 movements / day and the number of passengers reached 25,000-30,000 passengers per day.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said the increase in aviation traffic was estimated to be mostly in Soekarno-Hatta as the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia.

Connectivity between Soekarno-Hatta and other airports in various regions in Indonesia will be reopened. Likewise with the frequency of flights on routes that are already active, it is believed to be increasing.

“Soekarno-Hatta is a hub for domestic flights connecting Jakarta with other cities in Indonesia. Because it’s on fase recovery Next month, we expect domestic routes to be active again, “he said.

As is known, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Management has extended the period of rapid test and PCR to 14 days. Thus, each passenger of the aircraft must show the results of the rapid test and PCR test which are valid for 14 days at the time of departure.
