There was some hope for employees of the retail chain on Tuesday. There have been several offers to take over stores from Makro Cash & Carry Belgium, but only Sligro’s offer for the Metro stores has been accepted by the trustee. There used to be only one offer for Makro stores, but now it seems it doesn’t meet the requirements. Who writes De Standaard.
There are serious doubts about the credibility of the offer. Makro stores appear to be heading towards bankruptcy, with more than a thousand jobs at risk.
