The agreement, which was signed last February Qatar Doha, calls on the United States to withdraw all its troops and international forces from Afghanistan by 1 May, while the Taliban will cut off ties with the network of international terrorist organizations. “Al Qaedaand other groups and will engage in peace talks with the administration of Afghan President Ashraf Ghana.

In response to recent statements by US President Joe Biden that it would be difficult to withdraw US troops on schedule, the Taliban have issued a statement stating that “violators of the agreement will be fully responsible for prolonging the war, death and destruction.”

The Taliban have not attacked US leaders since the agreement was signed NATO but stepped up attacks on the Afghan government, and no tangible progress has been made in the peace talks between the Taliban and government officials, which began in September.

As Biden said this week, he “can’t imagine” that U.S. troops would still be in Afghanistan next year. However, the new US president did not offer a precise timetable for the exit.

The Taliban have called Baiden’s statements vague, pointing out that the Doha agreement is seen as the best option for ending the 20-year war, and stressing that the group has fulfilled its obligations.
