The movie The Tale of the Three Jewels, starring Bushra Qarman, Muhammad Bakri, the child Hanaa Nehme, Makram Khoury, the child Ghassan Abu Lebdeh, and Muhammad al-Nahal, is a film by director Michel Khleifi.

“Khalifi” is considered a pioneer of independent Palestinian cinema, as his first feature film, “The Wedding of Galilee,” won a number of international awards, including the Golden Chance at the San Sebastian Film Festival, the International Federation of Film Press (FIPRISE) Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987, and the Golden Tanit Award at the Carthage Film Festival.

He is also considered one of the directors most concerned with the issue of the land and the homeland, and he was honored in several festivals, where he was awarded the first class of the National Order of Merit in the cultural sector, in recognition of the excellence of his cinematic works, and his valuable artistic contributions in serving just causes.

The name of Palestinian director Michel Khleifi emerged strongly on the world cinema scene with the screening of his film “Fertile Memory” at the Carthage Film Festival in 1980, where it won the Arab Critics Award. The film was a true discovery of the talent of its director, who was born in Nazareth in 1950.
