The bright green Swift Parrot has been announced as the winner of Australia’s Bird of the Year for 2023 after receiving more than 11,000 votes in the biennial survey.
The survey was first launched by bird conservation group BirdLife Australia and Australian online publication Guardian Australia in 2017. It is now the fourth survey. On September 25, with a list of Australia’s 50 native bird species, the bottom five species were eliminated each weekday.
