According to the general practitioner Elena Mikhailova, the risk of encountering a problem such as hypertension increases with certain genetic features. But most often the cause of pressure surges is a person’s lifestyle.

Mikhailova also noted the fact that the products we consume can become the main provoking component of high blood pressure. In particular, this applies to processed foods.

At risk are those who love sweets very much and cannot even drink a cup of tea without sugar.

– Sugar causes obesity and affects blood pressure. Such processes disrupt metabolism, causing the body to produce too much insulin and leptin, reducing the excretion of sodium and water by the kidneys. This leads to narrowing of the blood vessels, says the doctor.

Non sports products

Products that are preferred by people involved in strength exercises can also be dangerous for hypertensive patients. It is believed that they make it possible not to fill up before and after training, when a lot of energy is lost. Elena Mikhailova is convinced that not everyone can use them, as they can be dangerous for those who suffer from jumps in blood pressure. Among such products, the expert highlighted:

fruit juices;

sports drinks;

protein bars.

All three foods can contain excessive amounts of added sugar, which can cause high blood pressure.
