Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff is said to have missed, among other things, a clear denial from Eberl about the Bayern rumors (as the new sports director).

Eberl recently said in SPORT BILD regarding Bayern’s interest: “I am under contract with RB Leipzig. But it’s not about me, it’s about the top game in the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig against Bayern Munich.” Once again he avoided making a clear commitment to the club.

The RB Leipzig team learned the news of Eberl’s separation on Friday afternoon shortly before 5 p.m.

In January 2022, Eberl resigned as Gladbach manager in tears because he felt burned out. But he still remained formally under contract.

That’s why Gladbach was able to collect a transfer fee from Leipzig when they made the move. Basic sum 2.5 million euros. With bonuses (e.g. at a Leipzig championship) 6 million euros would be due.

A week ago, when he returned to Gladbach, Eberl was mocked by fans on a poster as a money-hungry pig.

Despite the high transfer fee, the RB management decided to separate quickly.

What’s next?

Rouven Schröder (47), previously sports director under Eberl, will be promoted at RB Leipzig and will take over the job of sporting director for the time being.
