The Supreme Court condemns the State to pay the 2017 VAT settlement to the Xunta. The Feijóo government claimed 204 million euros, and hopes to receive the same amount, although the judgment does not specify the exact amount that must be reimbursed.
As with the complaint filed by the Castilla and leon meeting, the court, as detailed by the Superior Court of Xustiza de Galicia in a statement, establishes that compensation must be set in execution of sentence; and its amount will be given by the difference between the result of the liquidation practiced at the time by the State Administration and the one that would have resulted from computing the collection of VAT of twelve monthly payments in said liquidation.
The one corresponding to the month of November 2017 is also included, to which The corresponding legal interests computed from the moment the request is submitted must be added. until the effective moment in which the compensation occurs and the necessary measures are adopted to reverse the financial imbalance caused to the Autonomous Community of Galicia.
The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, considers that this is excellent news, and celebrates that the high court does justice because it does not make sense that the VAT collected in Galicia does not affect the regional treasury. He regrets that what he qualifies as one more debt of the State with Galicia had to be prosecuted.
Feijóo also assures that the 200 million will come in handy for the Xunta at a time of lower collection due to the pandemic.
