‘The Summer Grand Prix’ returns to La 1 loaded with novelties, among which the new heifer stands out, which on this occasion will be a person with a suit in the “American NBA mascot style” who “will go out to bother the players when the mayors decide to use a wild card”, as reported by RTVE.
In the first game of each program, the wildcards that each of the teams will have will be decided: two for the winner and one for the loser, or one for each. They will be able to activate them by pressing a button that the mayors will have in front of them just before each game.
After a five second countdown, if no one decides to press the button, the game will start; if they press it, a great mooing will sound and colored lights will give way to the calf.
Ramón García will once again be the grand master of ceremonies for the program, produced by RTVE in collaboration with EuroTV Producciones (Grupo iZen), which will have established and representative tests and other new ones. Alfacar (Granada) and Colmenarejo (Madrid) will be the first two towns invited and will have Miguel Ángel Muñoz and Lolita as godparents.
In the presentation of the program, the director of Communication and Participation of RTVE, María Eizaguirre, explained that the return of ‘El Grand Prix’ responds to a frequently repeated request: “RTVE has listened to it, and has made it a reality. RTVE wants to bring smaller towns closer again. Two decades have passed, summer is coming and the Grand Prix is coming.”
“There are many years. The program has changed little and I continue to have the same illusion or more. This is a challenge. Entering here and seeing this* Grand Prix is breathed. We have to do the same: a balance between the memory history that it has the people of the Grand Prix with the people of today. It is very nice to achieve that and transfer it to the new generations. It was an exciting call, after many years working to make it happen. TVE is the television of all Spaniards and it will give visibility to small towns. That is also the work of public television”, stated Ramón García.
For the general director of EuroTV (iZen Group), Carlo Boserman, “it has been a challenge because we had to maintain the spirit of the program, but giving it a 2023 touch”.
“At the beginning it was all led, and we didn’t like it. We have changed all the graphics: it reminds us of the past while being in the present. We have also changed the chords, but it is the same tune. We maintain the essence of the classic tests, but we have added new ones that will also be a lot of fun,” Boserman said.
CRISTININI AND MICHELLE CALVÓ WILL ACCOMPANY RAMÓN GARCÍA
Ramón García will be accompanied by the presenter and content creator Cristinini and the actress Michelle Calvó. Along with them, Wilbur, who will be in charge of showing the mechanics of the tests in a very different way: in a comical tone and through acrobatics.
The mythical games will be very present in the program: Crazy Trunks, Bowling (now Super Bowling), the Dictionary, the Hot Potato and Basketball in Diapers.
Among the novelties, a ramp that will be used at two heights to play La Nursery and Climb as You Can, two gymkhanas in which the Dinosaur will be present; a turntable for Alice in Caidillas Country; Los Ki-monos, an aerial gymkhana above the pool; giant fans in the Pilot Dog and, lastly, Las Manos will return in the form of penguins.
Another of the most outstanding novelties, especially due to its size, is the Niko Dinosaur, which will be in the gymkhanas and in some of the games bothering the players before finishing the test and interacting with Ramón García, Michelle and Cristinini. It will appear in both the form of a dinosaur and a dragon, depending on the test.
In this edition, eight towns will participate that will face two by two in four qualifying programs, where the four best scored will qualify for the two semifinals. The town that wins each one of them will enter the grand finale of the ‘Grand Prix del Verano’.
The participating towns will be Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia), Alfacar (Granada), Brión (Coruña), Cervelló (Barcelona), Colmenarejo (Madrid), Los Montesinos (Alicante), Tineo (Asturias) and Yepes (Toledo).
