A new format for Premier League darts was introduced last year. Every match day from the quarter-finals onwards will be played in a tournament format. This year was also concluded according to this format.
Previously, each player played a game on each matchday. “It’s difficult to please everyone but I think the new format can be called a success,” former Premier League player Mark Webster told Sky Sports.
“It might seem a bit long-winded for TV viewers at times, but it’s certainly great for local people because they see a winner everywhere.”
Weekly Winner
Devon Petersen, who is still active on the Pro Tour himself, also welcomes the new format. “The big advantage is that there is a winner at the end of the evening on every match day. With the new points system, you can also present yourself very well in the overall standings as a weekly winner. In the past, one or two defeats had less impact on the table.
