The Story of Asep, Ambulance Driver Carrying Hundreds of COVID-19 Patients in Cimahi

CIMAHI – A Puskesmas ambulance driver in Cimahi City, Asep Muhamad Rahman Soleh (39) told his story that he has been struggling to carry COVID-19 patients for more than a year. It wasn’t normal at first, but now he’s used to it.

Since the corona virus outbreak in Cimahi City, the man from Cisangkan Girang Village, RT 04/10, Padasuka Village, Central Cimahi District has been involved in handling it. He is tasked with carrying an ambulance containing COVID-19 patients.

Asep, who is a freelance daily worker (THL) works at the Cipageran Health Center. However, at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, only he and his friend named Ridwan were tasked with bringing patients infected with the corona virus.

He will not forget the moment he first referred patients infected with the corona virus to the West Java Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Jalan Colonel Masturi, Cimahi City in March 2020.

At that time, being good at carrying four-wheeled vehicles was not enough, but mentally you had to be strong because the shadow of the corona virus infection lurked. Just a little careless, it’s not impossible that he was exposed.

Like an astronaut, he also wears a hazmat suit and other complete DKRI Protective Equipment (PPE) rather than being infected with COVID-19. Asep is confused, but he realizes that this is a noble task, namely saving human lives.
