The Story of a Cancer Survivor Who Tested Positive for COVID-19 For 335 Days, The World’s Longest

Liputan6.com, Maryland – A total of 335 days is the length of time a 47-year-old woman from the US was diagnosed with COVID-19.

So long has he had the disease, the patient is now dubbed one of the world’s longest-serving COVID-19 infections, according to a study published by Mashable, Saturday (10/23/2021).

What’s amazing is that the woman from Bethesda, Maryland, is also a survivor cancer.

The woman was documented in a study published in preprint on MedRxiv in early October 2021. However, this study has not been peer-reviewed.

According to Science News, the woman was hospitalized with COVID-19 at the National Institutes of Health’s campus hospital because she tested positive despite showing mild or no symptoms.

This study revealed that the woman, who was a cancer survivor, had undergone successful blood cancer treatment in 2018 that left him with low levels of B cells, making him immunocompromised.

Because of this, he started to consistently test positive for the coronavirus, leading doctors at first to think that these were false positives due to the residual virus remaining in the system after the infection cleared.

But when he started testing positive again in March 2021, doctors began investigating by sequencing his genome.
