During Sunday, Rakovník was hit by a strong storm with hail. Several water lagoons appeared in the town in the Central Bohemian Region before 4 pm.

According to local photos – for example at the bus station – the water reached a height of about one meter in some places. Firefighters had to evacuate many people from cars.

“We evacuated a total of eleven people from the cars,” said Vladimíra Kereková, a spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian fire brigade.

“In four other places, firefighters had to pump water,” Kerek added.

They also struggled with floods in other regions. For example, the level of the Loučná River in Cerekvice nad Loučná in the Svitavy region, after torrential rains, rose above the limit of the first flood stage on Sunday after 1 p.m.

In the afternoon, firefighters from the Pardubice region intervened in Litomyšl, where a local storm flooded several gardens and houses.

On Sunday afternoon, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute issued a warning with a low degree of danger that the Czech Republic would be hit in places by strong storms with torrential rains and hail.

The levels of small streams can rise, there is a risk of flooding of underpasses, underpasses, cellars and other places below.
