The state finally lost the platform at Plovdiv airport

The land was contributed to a company established in 1995 with the Trakia Fund, and now the state-owned company may have to pay rent.

The state finally lost in battle the battle for the ownership of the platform at Plovdiv airport. The land is contributed to the capital of the company “Plovdiv Airport” AD, established in 1995. It includes state-owned Plovdiv Airport EOOD and Trakia Investment Fund. Initially, the state-owned company, successor to BGA Balkan, has a 55% stake in the joint venture, which has since been reduced.

The ownership of the platform has been going on for over 20 years, and the last argument of the state through the Plovdiv Regional Administration was that the airport platform could not be contributed to the joint venture with the Trakia Fund because it is public property. At the time of the contribution, however, there was no act of public state ownership on the platform.

The old part of the platform, built in 1982, was declared the property of the joint venture in 2020, but work continued on the new one – built during the renovation of the airport in 2009. The dispute was whether the two parts are divisible or not. to be used independently of each other and the experts ruled that the second option was not possible. Thus, in early November last year, the Plovdiv Court of Appeals rejected the state’s claims. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Cassation followed, which did not allow it to be considered with a ruling that is not subject to appeal. Thus, the ruling of the Court of Appeals in favor of the joint venture Plovdiv Airport AD remains in force.

“This decision cannot be good news, because we may have to pay rent. But our task is to continue to increase the number of flights and thus improve financial performance,” the chairman of the board of directors told 24 Chassa. the state company “Plovdiv Airport” EAD Doychin Angelov.
