On New Year’s Eve in Ukraine, 12 people died in fires

During the holiday period, the number of fires caused by violation of fire safety rules when using electric garlands and pyrotechnics is growing.

In Ukraine, on the last day of 2021, 12 people died in fires. This was reported by the press service GSChS.

“In total, over the past day, December 31, 125 fires broke out in Ukraine in the residential sector, which killed 12 citizens and injured 4 more people,” the message says.

It is reported that during the holiday period, the number of fires in the residential sector is increasing, caused by violation of fire safety rules when using electric garlands, pyrotechnics, or careless handling of fire. Therefore, special attention of rescuers is focused precisely on ensuring fire safety.

It is emphasized that from December 31 to January 4, the GSChS units are on duty in an enhanced mode. More than 7 thousand personnel and 2 thousand units of fire-fighting and rescue and special equipment are on round-the-clock duty.

Earlier it was reported that in Rivne on December 31 there was a fire in a trolleybus, plying along the route number 10.
