The referees are discussed in Spain, not least after the chaos match between Real Madrid and Valencia (2-2) where Jude Bellingham was snubbed for a winning goal in the last second.

But for Real Madrid, the referees were already in the spotlight several weeks ago and Sevilla reported “Los Blancos” for undermining VAR referees Díaz de Mera and González Fuertes on its television channel ahead of the February 25 meeting between the teams, which Real Madrid won with 1-0.

Now Sevilla announces that the RFEF has received word that an investigation has been started.

Sevilla’s view is that the video released before the match was to create an image of poor refereeing professionalism and that the referees are anti-Madrid biased, which they did just before the match. That in turn would mean tension and unnecessary pressure on the referees, according to Sevilla.
