The Sónar festival postpones its edition to 2021 – The GO!

The Sónar 2020 edition cannot be held and is postponed to 2021.

Sónar 2020 and the parallel Sónar + D, like most major festivals, cannot be held this year due to the health crisis.

The organization of festival de Barcelona, which was going to celebrate its 27th edition from June 18 to 20, 2020, today publishes a statement in which it announces that it is definitively postponed, together with Sonar + D, to June 17, 18 and 19 2021 in the same location, the Fira Montjuïc de Barcelona and Fira Gran Via de L’Hospitalet.

“After evaluating all the options, and in accordance with government regulations, this decision has been the only one possible to fully guarantee the health and safety of the attendees, artists and teams involved,” they explain in the festival statement.

The intention of the festival is to reprogram most names from the original lineup, which included, among others, Arca, The Blaze, The Chemical Brothers, Laurent Garnier, Mura Masa, TNGHT, Battles, Princess Nokia and Telefon Tel Aviv.

The festival also communicates that the holders of tickets and professional accreditations will receive an email on May 19 with information on the advantages to keep them for 2021 or, if they wish, access a refund of their amount.

In addition, the festival will hold an extraordinary edition of Sónar + D at the CCCB on September 18 and 19 that “will have a format and content specifically designed for the current context and with an eye on new imaginable futures at the intersection of culture , art and technology ”.

It will be online, free and may be attended by a face-to-face audience depending on the evolution of the gauging regulations.
