The son admitted to hospital: – Struggling very hard to breathe

– He struggles a lot to breathe, has a high fever, poor general condition, coughs and vomits, writes Ulrik Nygård on Instagram.

To Good evening Norway, Ulrik says that they took their son to the emergency room and the GP several times.

There were several surveys and measurements, about which there was some uncertainty. The doctor finally concluded that the parents could go home with their son.

Need help breathing

– We were sent home with the message that we should contact the hospital if he got worse. Søren did not get any worse, but the gut feeling said that this was the wrong assessment, says Ulrik.

Eventually, the son was admitted to Drammen Hospital.

– He is now in respiratory assistance at the hospital, Ulrik writes on Instagram.

RS-viruset

According to FHI, most people who get the RS virus experience cold symptoms. In some infants and young children, however, what starts as an RS cold can pull down on the lungs and cause bronchiolitis.

He says that it is frightening to see his own child need so much help, and be in such bad shape.

– We were most scared before we got proper help, and were able to confirm what went wrong with our son. Seeing your own child completely apathetic, no smile, no sign, nothing. With wires and hoses everywhere. It’s extremely damn good, he says.

– Super mother with big S

To Good evening Norway, Ulrik says that his son is now on the road to recovery, and that he has good moments from time to time, but that he quickly gets tired.

– He still needs continuous oxygen, still needs food via a tube in his stomach. The temperature is much better, and the general condition is significantly better. Julianne is a super mom with a big S, he says.

– We are well taken care of here at the children’s ward in Drammen, and are doing well according to the conditions, he continues.

Now Ulrik encourages parents not to get in touch with the health service, if they feel there is something wrong with their child.

– I do not want to hang anyone out here. I know they want to help. That was also the case here, but if you are struggling with a bad feeling that what you have been told is not true, then do not give up, he writes.

– Fortunately, we were not able to accept the answers we received, and it turned out that this time mom and dad were right. No one knows the little ones as well as us parents, he writes further.

Health South-East came today with a press release in which they state that there has been a large influx of patients to the hospitals due to several covid-19 patients, RS virus and other respiratory diseases.

– The situation is challenging at several hospitals, and it is therefore important that we cooperate well, says CEO of Health South-East RHF, Terje Rootwelt.
