The Copa Argentina final brings together Talleres Cordoba and Patronato at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Monday (31/10/2022). In this match, Tiago Banega scored in the 78th minute.

The goal was born out of an unusual process. Banega tried to punch from midfield.

His ball control wasn’t good enough until the ball slipped a little out of reach. Banega tried to bring the ball closer to the opponent with a sliding tackle.

Unexpectedly, Banega’s tackle hitting the ball in midfield leans towards the goal. Talleres goalkeeper Alan Aguerre slightly advanced from the goal fails to reach the ball which ends up in the right corner of the goal.

Banega’s goal was the only goal in this match. The 23-year-old’s sliding tackle has become the determining factor for Patronato in winning the Copa Argentina.

Patronato made history by winning his first Copa Argentina title. This title also led Patranota to seal tickets for the Copa Libertadores, the Champions League event for South American clubs. The Copa Argentia trophy became a consolation for Patronato who had been relegated from the highest caste in the Argentine league.
