In addition to the nimble version of the RS and the adventurous Scout model, two economical and ecological variants of the Škoda Octavia model are also coming to the Czech market: the G-Tec and the E-Tec.

Let’s start with the relatively well-known version of G-Tec, which is able to burn not only gasoline but also compressed natural gas – CNG. Under the hood we find a four-cylinder 1.5 TGI engine with an output of 96 kW (130 hp), operating in the so-called Miller cycle, which promises high economy and ecological operation.
Gas reserves are stored in three pressure tanks, located under the floor of the boot, with a total capacity of 17.33 kilograms of gas. In addition, the car is equipped with a nine-liter gas tank, which comes in handy when starting at temperatures below -10 ° C, after replenishing CNG or as an emergency solution.

When operating on CNG, the engine will say about 3.4 to 3.6 kg CNG / 100 km and the range per filling should be around 500 kilometers. When operating on petrol, the consumption is around 4.6 l / 100 km, which should mean a range of 190 km. According to preliminary data, the combined range is less than 700 km.
The characteristic features of the G-Tec version are the specific appearance of the virtual cockpit and the plaque at the stern. The volume of the luggage compartment was then reduced to 455 liters for the liftback version and 495 liters for the combo model due to the installation of cylinders.

The Škoda Octavia G-Tec will be available in Active, Ambition and Style trim levels for a price starting at CZK 613,900.
A small hybrid
In addition, the new generation of the Škoda Octavia is the first model within the brand to offer a mild-hybrid engine with the E-Tec designation. The basis is the 1.0 TSI engine with an output of 81 kW, which is combined with a seven-speed DSG gearbox, a 48V belt starter-generator and a 48V lithium ion battery.

The energy obtained by recuperation during braking can then be used to improve the car’s dynamics during acceleration thanks to the use of the torque of the electric motor, or it will allow sailing with the combustion engine completely switched off. The result is slightly better dynamics, lower consumption and lower CO emissions2.
The Škoda Octavia E-Tec is available on the Czech market in the Active, Ambition and Style specifications. The price starts at 553,900 CZK.
