The sixth «Jurmala Festival» will take place in Dzintari Concert Hall / Article / LSM.lv

In summer – from July 22 to August 4 – the sixth “Jurmala Festival” will take place in Dzintari Concert Hall. The novelty of this festival will be a live concert of the concert in a concert studio with musician Jānis Šipkēvics, the media informs the representatives of the concert hall.

The festival program has changed. Taking into account the current gathering restrictions, a distance of 2 meters will be provided between the listeners at the concerts, therefore the seating arrangement of the Dzintari Concert Hall has been changed, up to 500 listeners will be able to attend each concert in person.

Listeners who had purchased tickets to the concerts – “Dedication to Maris Jansons”, “Born in Latvia” and “Raimonds Pauls. World Cinema Music ”, will be able to exchange previously purchased tickets for new ones. For those who will not be able to exchange tickets, the money for the tickets will be refunded.

The festival program has also been supplemented by two new concerts: “Three Osokini” and “Alexander Antonenko and Reinis Zariņš”.

Three concerts have been canceled – “Goldway of Goldway Musicals”, “Ksenia Sidorov and George Harliono” and “Gala Concert. The most beautiful opera arias ”. Money for purchased tickets to these concerts will be refundable.

Listeners will also be able to buy live tickets to all the concerts of the “Jurmala Festival” and watch the concerts remotely via the Internet.

They will be led by musician Jānis Šipkēvics in the concert studio.

July 22 – Opening of Jurmala Festival. Three Osokini

For the third year in a row, the program of the “Jurmala Festival” will be supplemented by a concert of the “Three Osokin” dynasty in the Dzintari Concert Hall. “This year, the selection of compositions will feature piano music by Frederic Chopin, Robert Schuman, Alexander Scriabin, Francis Pulenka and Maurice Ravel.

July 24 – Born in Latvia (moved from 31 July)

Continuing the tradition established in Latvia’s centenary, at the “Jurmala Festival” listeners will meet outstanding Latvian-born musicians who have gained wide international recognition – opera singer Alexander Antonenko, pianist Reina Zariņš, violinist Raimonds Ozols, pianists Sergejs and Andrejs Osokins and They will be joined on the big stage of the Dzintari Concert Hall by young Latvian talents and the state chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga”. The conductor of the concert is the internationally recognized musical director of the Berlin Comic Opera Ainars Rubikis.

July 28 – Sunrise concert on the beach

Continuing the experience started last year, the world-famous Latvian organist, honorary artist of the Hamburg Elbe Philharmonic Iveta Apkalna will welcome the sunrise on the morning of July 28 at 4.00 am on Dzintari beach with the sounds of organ music. The concert will begin in the dark before sunrise, culminating in the sun rising around 5.15. There, the sounds of organ music will merge with the roar of the wind, sea and trees, experiencing an unheard of interaction between nature and organ music. It will be possible to listen to the concert both on the beach and on the water, arriving by boat. Free entrance.

July 29 – Dedication to Maris Janson (postponed from 28 July)

In tribute to the world-famous Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons, the concert dedicated to the maestro will take place at the “Jurmala Festival”, however, changes are planned in the program. Performed by the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, violinist Kristīne Balana and conductor Andris Poga, we will enjoy Peter Tchaikovsky’s 6th Symphony and Max Bruh’s violin concert.

July 30 – Raimonds Pauls. World Cinema Music (moved from July 29)

Maestro Raimonds Pauls, together with the Latvian Radio Big Band and the Sinfonietta Rīga string group, will invite you for a beautiful walk through the pages of world cinema music.

August 4 – Closing of “Jurmala Festival”. Alexander Antonenko and Reinis Zarins

In the closing concert of this year’s “Jurmala Festival”, two world-famous Latvian musicians – opera singer Aleksandrs Antoninsenko and pianist Reinis Zariņš – will meet on the stage of Dzintari Concert Hall. The program includes the most beautiful solo songs by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and other Western European classics.

The “Jūrmala Festival” takes place this year thanks to the support of the city of Jūrmala and observing the valid gathering restrictions, ensuring a distance of 2 meters between the listeners and all the necessary safety measures.
