The Senate voted on Thursday evening in favor of an amendment to the law on health protection in connection with the COVID-19 epidemic and after it ceased, deleting the provision on compensation for entities that implemented the prime minister’s order related to holding presidential elections by correspondence.

On Thursday evening, senators voted several dozen amendments to the law on health protection in the epidemic and after it ceased. Among the adopted amendments is the deletion of the provision providing for the granting of a one-off compensation to entities that, in connection with counteracting COVID-19, implemented the Prime Minister’s order related directly to holding presidential elections by correspondence.

The opposition claimed that in this way the rulers wanted to cover the expenses (about PLN 70 million) from taxpayers’ money, which, among others, Poczta Polska incurred in connection with the elections on May 10, which did not take place.
