the sector plan is ready

We were talking about it at the general assembly of the Interprofessional Committee for Walnuts from Grenoble (CING) in September 2020. The players in the walnut sector were then thinking about a sector plan after the climatic hazards of 2019. A few months later, the work is completed.

This plan, drawn up in collaboration with technical partners and with the support of local authorities (Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region and the Drôme, Isère and Savoie Departments) should, according to the CING, “meet the challenges identified during the inventory of fixtures. the sector. Its ambitions revolve around three axes: adaptation to climatic changes and new environmental requirements, the need to remain competitive in the market and technical support for producers. “It runs from 2021 to 2024.

Direct financial support to farms is also provided for in this plan, in particular through investment aid (such as specific equipment for pruning walnut trees such as secateurs, setting up hedges, plant cover under walnut trees, walnut plants and also support for setting up hill reservoirs), but also technical advice. The Region, the Departments of Drôme, Isère and Savoie have responded to financially support the actions. The Region is contributing 840,000 euros over the four years, the Departments supplementing this budget to reach over 900,000 euros.
