Great music and a good club atmosphere: That was the second Blue Box Festival
The stage in the Uri Theater became a club with a large bar and cool sounds for three evenings.

For the second time, the stage in the Uri Theater became a club with a large bar and lots of good music for three evenings. The Blue Box Festival had a lot to offer. Marius Bear, with his distinctive, rough and extremely expressive voice, ensured a brilliant end to the festival on Saturday evening at the Uri Theater. The 30-year-old singer from Appenzell was skillfully supported by his band, who carried him through loud rock and pop numbers as well as moving, quiet ballads.
The song selection ranged from “Boys Do Cry”, with which he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, to the cover of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston. Bear not only sang in English, but also in dialect.
Riana played at the opening of the evening. The 24-year-old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist also comes from Appenzellerland and impressed with her soulful and catchy songs.

The Blue Box Festival began on Thursday evening with the Uri band Mom, who invited many guests to the memorial concert for their late drummer Benno Mauri. Phipu Gerber, guitarist of the band Bluedög, Schöre Müller from the legendary Bernese dialect rock band Span and Didi F. Meier from Gross in Japan were present at the special opening evening of the festival. The evening turned into a sad but beautiful home game with lots of blues rock covers.
Moes Anthill played neo-folk, Americana and pop.

Friday evening belonged to two Uri bands: Moes Anthill around Mario Moe Schelbert are working on a new album after “Hour of Extravaganza” (2022): “Easy Win”. They provided a successful start to the evening on stage at the Theater Uri with their idiosyncratic mix of neo-folk, Americana and pop. Afterwards, Daens, the band around singer and guitarist Daniel Beltrametti, put everyone in a good mood with their extremely danceable crossover pop. After the concerts, DJs ensured a good club atmosphere until well after midnight.

The key and blue box are intended to be an addition
The Blue Box Festival has already established itself with its second edition. This is proven by the number of visitors, which ranged between 250 and 300 people every evening. “The Blue Box Festival in autumn should be the counterpart to the Tonart Festival in spring,” said Michel Truniger, director of the Uri Theater, to our newspaper at the end of the festival. It is now clear to him: “We are already planning for the next Blue Box Festival. This should take place again next fall.”
