It is a new crack in the common house of the family of insurers. The French reinsurer, SCOR announced this week its departure from the French Insurance Federation (FFA), the main organization representing the profession. This departure of a heavyweight from the profession once again highlights the divisions of a sector which has found itself under pressure from public authorities and the critics of policyholders since the start of confinement.
SCOR, whose decision was first revealed by the specialized site “The pavement of insurance”, justifies his departure by the way the FFA has led its 280 members to release 400 million euros to fund the fund of solidarity in favor of VSEs and independents affected by the crisis. This allocation is regularly put forward by insurers, alongside a set of measures, to prove that they have been up to the crisis. They do not hesitate to point out that they were the only sector to fund the fund in this way.
