the Sarlat hospital defense committee has been fighting for a decade

In September 2023, it will be exactly ten years since members of the Sarladais committee have been pounding the pavement in front of the entrance to the Jean-Leclaire hospital, holding a permanence, discussing with staff, users, families, distributing leaflets, making sign petitions, complete questionnaires.

In recent months, the committee circulated a survey of fifteen questions on the relationship of users with the health system. During a press conference organized on Tuesday, January 17, he gave the main lines. This questionnaire was completed by 400 people.

“The most obvious problem is that of emergencies, summarizes Jean Sève, member of the committee. Difficulties of access, refusals, bad diagnoses… There are also many testimonies of the quality of the reception. Communication problems between the hospital, the city doctors and the users also appeared.

The committee is now at the heart of the reactor, with wide access to first-hand internal information

In 10 years of action, the Sarlat public hospital defense committee believes it has gained its legitimacy. Moreover, two of its members, Jean Sève and Charlotte Krinke, were appointed on a proposal at the end of 2022, by the Regional Health Agency (ARS), as representatives of hospital users, alongside members of the National Union of Families and Friends of Mentally Ill and/or Disabled People (Unafam). “The representative acts mainly to guarantee respect and promotion of the rights of patients and users of the health system, and to contribute to the qualitative improvement of the health system”, describes the public health code which qualifies the representative as “door -word of the user”.

Complicated relationships

As such, they will sit on the users’ council (CDU), chaired by the establishment’s deputy director, Anne Rousselot-Soulière. The mission of this CDU is to improve the reception policy and care for patients and their relatives. Jean Sève will also be a full member of the Supervisory Board (CDS), chaired by Mayor Jean-Jacques de Peretti. This CDS decides in particular on the strategy and exercises permanent control over the management of the establishment.
