The Rolling Stones release unreleased 1974 single | NOW

The Rolling Stones released a reissue of an unreleased 1974 song on Wednesday. The number Scarlet is part of a new version of the album Goats Head Soup, which will be released later this year.

In Scarlet includes Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, among others. Rick Grech, who died in 1999 and was part of the British rock band Traffic, plays the bass.

According to band member Keith Richards, the recording with guitarist Page, which was never part of The Rolling Stones, was spontaneous in October 1974. “We had booked the studio space just after Led Zeppelin and so walked in the moment they wanted to leave. To my surprise, Jimmy decided to stay,” said Richards in a statement on the website of The Rolling Stones.

“It was not supposed to be an official song at all, but it was meant to get the feeling. It worked so well that it was a shame not to do anything at all.”

Earlier this year, the ‘Stones’ already released Living In A Ghost Town in Criss Cros from. Those numbers will also appear on Goats Head Soup, which includes a total of ten previously unreleased tracks and studio recordings. The album will be released on September 4.
