Without losing pace, the Roland team from Switzerland captured the first three places in the Grand Prix Presidente, the third of the Tour El Salvador 2024, which began in Plaza Salvador del Mundo and ended in Juayúa, Sonsonate.
The Swiss Elena Hartmann, a member of the Roland team, finished the test with a time of 2:50:01 hours, demonstrating her endurance and speed on the 112-kilometer route.
Second place went to the Italian Giorgia Vettorello, also from Roland, who crossed the finish line in 2:52:19 hours; The Russian Tamara Dronova, who finished in second place yesterday, completed the podium today for the Swiss team when she finished third.
Many cyclists struggled unsuccessfully to finish the race, which had an ascending demand as it passed through Los Naranjos. However, the most experienced riders managed to complete the challenge.
Hartmann, with a smile on his face after the award ceremony, expressed his happiness and satisfaction for meeting the objective set at the beginning of today’s tour.
“I feel very honored to be here, I think everyone expected me to win today, so I’m glad I did it. What happened today in this Grand Prix is impressive, I won it and that makes me very happy and even more so because Georgia and Tamara achieved the other two places in the competition,” Elena expressed.
The Swiss champion in the time trial assured that the team has responded well in these three days of competition, but that today’s stage has been her favorite because of the terrain, the Salvadoran landscapes and getting to know Juayúa and its people.
“It’s amazing how good this place is. I love the climate of Juayúa because it is exactly the inclination and demand to which I am accustomed, where I have to make the maximum effort. Everything was perfect, since the Roland team took the first three places and everything is going as we expected,” said the President Grand Prix champion.
The Tour El Salvador 2024 will have a day of rest and will return on Friday, March 8 with the prologue of the Vuelta Ciclista a El Salvador, which will be run starting at 7:00 pm and will have a distance of 2.5 kilometers in the historic center of the capital.
