The road record continues to improve on the Côte-Nord

The road record continues to improve on the North Shore for a third consecutive year. Pandemic probably helping, the total number of accident victims fell from 309 in 2019 to 262 in 2020, a drop of 15.2%.

Coming back to the Côte-Nord, the improvement in the situation can only be explained by the drop in people with minor injuries, the number of which fell from 285 to 235.

Even if the differences are minimal in absolute terms, the fact remains that the number of road fatalities in the region has fallen from 4 to 5 in the past year, while the number of people seriously injured increased from 20 to 22.

The portrait for 2020 is even more encouraging when compared to the average number of accident victims for the period from 2015 to 2019. Thus, their total number has decreased by 28.1%. It is also a question of a drop of 29.9% for people slightly injured and 30.6% for deaths. Meanwhile, a 1.9% increase was recorded.

All categories combined, the number of road victims on the North Shore has gradually declined from 387 to 262 since 2015, except for an increase to 422 recorded in 2017.
