The majestic and witty Estonian maestro Olari Elts returns to Latvia, offering a unique concert program, which will be permeated by scores dedicated to Scotland and the performance of a real Scottish bagpiper Robert Jordan. The composers have included Scottish bagpipes in the scores of academic music countless times on their fingers. One of them will be revealed in the glorious wedding scene of the respected British composer and conductor Peter Maxwell Davis, recorded in the Orkney archipelago in northern Britain. We will experience a different view of the Scottish landscape through the eyes of the young Felix Mendelssohn; The soul of the sensitive romantic here is captivated by both the unusual sea voyage and the rooms of the castle decorated with the spiral staircase of Queen Mary. On the other hand, we will capture an effective summer landscape with a palette of vitaminized orchestral rhythms and timbres in the seasonal score of the famous Scottish-American long-lived composer Teas Masgreivas, who is famous for his orchestral mastery.
Concert bagger Robert Jordan is one of the UK’s leading solo dudes, often performing with many of Britain’s top orchestras, and has performed on BBC Radio 3 with the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with leading British orchestras in Armenia, Spain, China, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries around the world. In 2018, Robert Jordan participated BBC Folk Prom, which was broadcast on national television and BBC Proms in the ParkHyde Park, in front of 40,000 spectators.
In turn, the uniquely designed and innovative concert programs of the Estonian conductor Olari Elts have brought the conductor fame and recognition in the international music arena. He has collaborated with such outstanding groups as Leipzig Gewandhaus, The Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Danish National and French National Symphony Orchestras, the Finnish Radio Symphony and the Dutch Radio Philharmonic, as well as the Dublin, Luxembourg, Lyon, Warsaw, Slovenia, Seattle, Ottawa, Seoul, Malaysia and Melbourne orchestras. In the 2018/2019 season, Olari Elts made his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra. Sinfonietta Riga, as well as returned to the well-known ensembles – the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Belfast and Porto musicians, as well as the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Japan.
