In December 2022, repair work began on the last damage caused to rural roads by the extraordinary flooding of the Ebro River as it passed through Calahorra in December 2021. These works have already been completed.
These actions are subsidized under the subsidy ordinance for damage to municipal infrastructure and road network of April 13, 2022, with which the Calahorra City Council obtained 7,576.21 euros, corresponding to a maximum of 50 percent of the costs of investment of the works
During this week the municipal technical services will carry out, together with the construction management, inspections of the works in which the vegetation has been removed, the ground leveled and leveled and gravel added to the facilitated roads.
These works join those that throughout the year 2022 were undertaken as part of the two phases envisaged for the repair of the damage and improvements in said defences. On the one hand, practically all the conditions of the roads and infrastructure reported by the City Council a few days after the extraordinary avenue of the Ebro River were taken care of and repaired by the Hydrographic Confederation of the Ebro during the first quarter of 2022 at a cost which amounted to half a million euros.
In 2022, however, phase 2 of the repair of the riverbeds and hydraulic infrastructures for the defense of the Ebro was also completed. Last July, the president of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and the mayor of Calahorra carried out a work on the “Robles” ditch was completed on the occasion of the start of the works envisaged in phase 2 of repairing the canals and hydraulic infrastructures for the defense of the Ebro.
These works have already been completed, as well as other reinforcement and expansion works of the defensive area in order to guarantee its resistance capacity against future avenues, also avoiding other damages to infrastructures, roads or agricultural exploitations which would break at that point could cause. to produce.
The cost of these actions is included in the lot contracted by CHE for the repair of damages and defects in the Ebro flood defense structures in the municipalities of Calahorra, Rincón de Soto and others, amounting to 474,859.11 euros.
In addition, the Municipal Road Service of the Municipality of Calahorra continues to carry out maintenance work on the municipal road network, such as clearing and paving maintenance, as part of its annual programme.
