The regional situation confirms the importance of building a unified army in Libya

On Friday, the US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, met in the German city of Stuttgart, with the commander of the US military command in Africa “AFRICOM”, General Michael Langley, and his deputy responsible for civil-military communication, Ambassador Young.

And the account of the US Embassy in Libya on Twitter quoted Norland as saying: “The deterioration of the regional security situation gives more importance than ever to diplomacy, development, and defense to support Libya in forming a unified army with civilian leadership that is able to protect sovereignty and stability in Libya.

Earlier, US Special Envoy Richard Norland affirmed the strong support of both the United States and Congo for the efforts of the United Nations and the African Union to bring together Libyan leaders in order to hold early elections to unify the country.

The US Embassy to Libya said in a tweet on its Twitter account, that Ambassador Norland informed Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso and Foreign Minister Gakoso of his appreciation for their leadership in supporting the National Forum for Libyan Reconciliation.

The two sides also agreed on the urgent need to accelerate the stabilization of Libya, restore its sovereignty and secure its borders in light of the growing threats to the security of the region.
