The referee called the players back – blew off too soon

Sevilla overshadows the top clubs in Spanish La Liga and is three points behind league leader Atlético Madrid.

When referee Ricardo De Burgos blew the whistle on Sunday night, they thought that the 2-1 victory against Granada was in port, but the match had a bizarre end.

Despite having added four minutes of play, the referee signaled for a 93 minute substitution. Granada reduced the lead after 90 minutes as a result of a free kick in a decent position.

Both coaches clocked last minute

De Burgos discovered his mistake and then called back the Sevilla players who had already left to change. In the stands, Brazilian midfielder Fernando stood without a shirt and shook his head.

Both coaches started their timer clocks when the last 60 seconds were to be played.

– There was a problem with his watch, it was a strange situation with a lot of confusion, says Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui.

The match ended 2-1 to Sevilla.
