In the heart of the Saint-Nicolas district, in Fécamp, all the historic buildings, in brick and flint, date from 1870. Until 2007, this is where the hospital was located. Then the site was abandoned in favor of a modern, more practical structure, built on the heights of the city near the Maupassant high school.
Part of the old building, renamed Henri-Dunant, was then converted into a reception area for associations.
In the coming days, the old Fécamp hospital will be reborn in a completely different way. At the end of more than two years of work, it will become the headquarters of the Institute for training in nursing care (Ifsi) and nursing assistants (Ifas) of Fécamp. An institute which has nearly 200 students, so far installed in the premises of the Jules-Ferry space, rue des Galeries.
An amphitheater in the old chapel
On Thursday March 11, 2021, Hervé Morin, the president of the Normandy Region who funded this 8 million euros project, and Marie-Agnès Poussier-Winsback, vice-president of the Region and mayor of Fécamp, will inaugurate the site.
A site with six modular classrooms, teaching centers, a laboratory, a 120-seat amphitheater housed in a former chapel.
This magnificent building has been renovated from top to bottom and refurbished by about fifteen companies from Fecampo and Normandy.
Initially scheduled for September 2020, the move of Ifsi and Ifas in the Saint-Nicolas district has been postponed, because the site was delayed due to the health crisis.
The work is now complete. This week, construction workers carried out the finishing touches. From Monday March 8, the time will have come to move.
