The Reason Shin Tae Yong Was Angry When Singapore Scored A Goal

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae Yong was involved in tension on the sidelines in the duel against Singapore in the semifinals AFF Cup. He did not like the way Singapore players celebrate goals.

The incident occurred at the end of the first half. The tense atmosphere on the pitch had already been felt moments before when Singapore protested strongly that Safuwan Baharudin received a second yellow card and had to leave the field.

When the match continued, Singapore managed to equalize through Song Ui-young. This goal then made the Singapore camp celebrate it excessively, making Shin Tae Yong angry.

“We conceded the first goal, there was a Singapore reserve player who went down, he celebrated towards me. It shouldn’t have been celebrated on the opponent’s bench, but he celebrated at me.”

“I spoke loudly to the Singapore coach, but the Singapore coach understood because I was angry. So he apologized,” said Shin Tae Yong in an interview with CNN Indonesia TV.

The Indonesia vs Singapore match was full of tension from start to finish. Singapore, which in the end played with nine people, even had a 2-1 lead over Indonesia.

Indonesia was only able to equalize through Pratama Arhan in the 87th minute and then survived the execution of Faris Ramli’s penalty at the end of the match.

Superior in the number of players, the Indonesian national team was finally able to score two additional goals through an own goal by Shawal Sulaiman and Egy Maulana Vikri in the extra time round. Indonesia ended the match with a 4-2 victory while winning 5-3 on aggregate over Singapore.

In the final round, Indonesia will meet against Thailand. The first leg of the final will be played on Wednesday (29/12) while the second leg will take place on Saturday (1/1).
