The heavy rains that have fallen in various parts of Spain in recent days -up to 150 liters per square meter in Castellón- will give a small truce on Saturday, before returning to prominence on Sunday with the arrival of an Atlantic storm, which will leave another important rainfall.
After this Friday, with predominance of the sun throughout the country, it is expected that, from Saturday night and especially Sunday, an Atlantic storm will affect the entire western half of the peninsula, with abundant rainfall, has advanced to Efe, Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Although the rains will affect almost the entire country, except for the Mediterranean side, they are expected to be strong or persistent and accompanied by storms in western Galicia, the provinces of León and Zamora and in the west of the Central System.
Regarding temperatures, Del Campo has detailed that the presence of a south wind will influence a rise in values, with more intensity on the Cantabrian coast, where he has warned of the risk of fire.
Today the daytime will continue unchanged in areas of the eastern Cantabrian, upper Ebro, Balearic and Canary Islands and will experience an increase in the rest of the peninsula, locally “notable” in Andalusia.
By province capitals, Seville and Ourense will reach the maximum with 22 degrees followed by Huelva, Córdoba and Badajoz with 21 degrees and Alicante, Almería, Cáceres, Cádiz, Castellón, Ciudad Real, A Coruña, Girona, Granada, Jaén, Málaga, Toledo and Valencia, among others with values ranging between 18 and 20 degrees.
The coldest night will be spent in provinces of Castilla y León with minimums that will drop below 0 degrees, while the mildest will be spent in Cádiz and Malaga with 11 degrees.
On Saturday, the daytime values will remain with little change in the Mediterranean area, will decrease in western Andalusia and will rise in the Canary Islands and the rest of the country, with a higher incidence in the Cantabrian and the upper Ebro.
That day a large number of provincial capitals will range between 23 and 20 degrees: Bilbao, Almería, Badajoz, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, San Sebastián, Jaén, Logroño, Lugo, Ourense, Oviedo, Palencia, Pontevedra, Seville, Santander, Valladolid , Zamora and Zaragoza, among others.
In the center of the peninsula, Guadalajara and Madrid will reach 18 and 17 degrees respectively.
On Sunday, the maximum will continue to rise in the Bay of Biscay, in the south of the peninsula and in the two archipelagos, and in decline in the rest of the country as a result of the advance in the west of the Atlantic storm; at night, the lows rise in most of the Peninsula, especially in its northern half, and change little in the rest.
Rubén Del Campo has stressed that “next week will begin with widespread rains”, except for the Balearic Islands, eastern Catalonia and the south-east coast, and although they are expected to be less intense than on Sunday, they could still be accompanied by a storm in the surroundings of the northern plateau.
On Tuesday the front tends to melt and would leave only a few light rains in the northeast at the beginning of the day, but at the end of the day that day the entry of “another Atlantic front” through Galicia is likely, leaving rainfall throughout the northwest throughout Wednesday.
For the last four days, from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, and with great uncertainty about the atmospheric evolution, rains of a certain intensity are expected again in Galicia and the extreme north and with a weaker character in the rest, except in Balearic Islands.
As for temperatures, the spokesperson for Aemet explained that “temperate values, rather than warm”, in the west and north of the peninsula, and somewhat cooler on the shores of the Mediterranean, will dominate.
As for the weather in the Canary Islands next week, there will be light winds and little cloudiness until Wednesday, but, starting on Thursday, the trade trade regime is restored, with weak rainfall on the islands of greater relief.
