All districts in mainland Portugal are now under yellow warning due to the forecast of showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, due to a depression, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to the IPMA, the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Vila Real, Viseu, Portalegre and Évora will be under yellow warning between 12:00 to 18:00 today and Guarda, Bragança, Castelo Branco between 12:00 to 21:00.
The districts of Leiria and Santarém are under yellow warning between 12:00 and 15:00, Lisbon between 06:00 and 12:00, Setúbal and Beja between 09:00 and 15:00 and Faro between 09:00 and 12:00.
The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
For today, the temperatures minimums vary between 14ºC (Braga and Évora) and 18ºC (Lisbon, Sines, Sagres and Faro). Maximum temperatures will range between 19ºC (Guarda) and 28ºC (Coimbra and Braga).
In a statement, the IPMA said that after a sequence of hot and dry days, starting today, there will be a change in the meteorological situation with a gradual decrease in temperature and showers that will sometimes be strong and accompanied by thunderstorms and affecting the entire territory of the continent.
This situation will persist until at least Saturday.
