The railway line between Kiev and Chisinau was launched after a 24-year hiatus

On November 5, the first flight of the train Kiev – Chisinau took place. On the 6th, the train left in the opposite direction.

Representatives of the “Moldovan Railway” reported that the route resumed operation for the first time in 24 years. The previous flight took place on October 2, 1998, after which the line failed.

According to the director of the company, Oleg Tofilat, the restart of the Chisinau-Kiev train is an important regional milestone in the interconnection: “This train will offer good connections to the airport, we intend to simplify the logistics to the airport … We have big projects for the development of passenger transport: safe and comfortable transport. We live in an age where we can accomplish things that seemed impossible a year ago. I am sure that after the victory of our brothers in Ukraine, we will resume communications with Odessa and others city”.

It should be noted that the Train to Victory train, launched in late August, was the first to leave Kiev for the capital of Moldova. Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marco Shevchenko noted the symbolism of this event.

“This train has important symbols. This is the “Victory Train”, each carriage represents a temporarily occupied region. One is dedicated to the Kharkiv region, which has already been liberated, and I’m sure it will truly become a victory train. It is also a symbol of our partnership, we are happy that you are with us, “said the diplomat.

The train from Chisinau to Kiev will depart three times a week on even dates. In the opposite direction – on odd dates. The seven carriages of the train can accommodate a maximum of 280 passengers. The journey takes approximately 13 hours.
