The Quebec government ready to adopt innovations related to health priorities and challenges

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, and the Minister of Economy and Innovation and Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development, Pierre Fitzgibbon, announce that the Government of Quebec is giving itself the means to accelerate innovations in the health and social services network (RSSS).

QUEBEC CITY, June 21, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – The objective is to showcase the expertise and know-how of Quebec researchers and entrepreneurs.

The government wishes to facilitate the adoption of health innovations and improve the funding of promising projects in healthcare settings. In addition, teams dedicated to evaluating innovations in the real world will be set up to test the projects submitted. The Government of Quebec thus wishes to play a leading role in innovation in health and social services in order to build the health system of tomorrow. It is also a key element of the Health Plan supported by the Quebec Life Sciences Strategy 2022-2025.

Structuring the evaluation of innovations in the RSSS

The Health Evaluation and Innovation Network (REIS) will support the creation of six innovation offices and strengthen their evaluation capacity in the RSSS. It represents investments of more than $4.4 million for projects with a total value of $5.5 million.

Health and Social Services Innovation Support Fund (FSISSS)

Direct funding of $6.6 million was allocated for the realization of 28 innovative projects in real care settings selected in the fourth and fifth calls for projects. The objective is to respond to pressing health challenges, such as the resumption of surgeries, home support for seniors, the provision of mental health services and physical and intellectual disabilities and spectrum disorders. autism.

Endowed with an envelope of $18 million over five years, the FSISSS is an important lever put in place as part of the Québec Life Sciences Strategy 2017-2022 to assist the Office of Innovation in carrying out its mandate. It allows the evaluation of innovations in real care situations in order to demonstrate their value for institutions in the public health and social services network of Quebec.
