On Tuesday, a total of 11,485 people received vaccinations against Covid-19 in Latvia, about half or 5,538 of them received the first dose of the vaccine yesterday. At the end of the second vaccination, 5,173 people received the vaccination, and 774 people were vaccinated last day with a vaccine from a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary that requires only one dose.

By Tuesday, including the first dose of Covid-19, at least 401,945 people in Latvia have received vaccines, but 129,396 people have completed the vaccination process. People who have received both doses of a vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca, Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna, or a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary vaccine that requires only one dose, are considered to have completed the vaccination process. Immunity to the Covid-19 virus occurs at different times after receiving different vaccines.

According to the CSB data, at the beginning of March 2021, Latvia had a provisional population of 1.889 million, so 21.28% of the population had already received the first vaccine against Covid-19, but 6.85% had completed the vaccination process.

In total, at least 531,341 injections of Covid-19 were injected in Latvia up to and including Monday.

According to data currently being compiled and updated by the NSA, 102,035 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 last week, more than in any other full week before, reaching the target of vaccinating at least 100,000 people a week. For example, in the week from May 3 to May 9, a total of 82,704 people were vaccinated, but the week before – 60,759 people. Since the beginning of April, more and more people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 every week.

However, the number of people vaccinated in recent days in the centrally compiled statistics could increase, as not all doctors report data on their vaccines to the NSA on the same day that the patient is vaccinated.

The latest statistics compiled by the NSS currently contain data on 11,485 people vaccinated on Monday, in addition, updated data from previous days, thus it can be seen that 9,302 people were vaccinated in Latvia on Monday and 4,611 on Sunday. day, vaccinating a total of 21,634 people. Previously, more than 20,000 people were vaccinated on May 6 alone, when 21,448 people were vaccinated against Covid-19.

On Tuesday, half of the vaccinees received “Pfizer / Biontech” vaccines, about every third – “Modern”. The AstraZeneca vaccine was mainly used to provide the second vaccine, but despite information from the Ministry of Health that the manufacturer’s vaccine is no longer being used for the first vaccines, 10 people were vaccinated for the first time yesterday.

LETA has already reported that on December 28 last year, vaccination of employees of large hospitals was the first in Latvia to be vaccinated against Covid-19, but later other groups of persons to be vaccinated as a priority were gradually opened.
