Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at this venue, which usually hosts concerts, amid great anticipation and evident concern about knowing the names of the five winners. The Princess of Wales opted for a flattering green maxi gown for this act which brought together many well-known faces like David Beckham, Ellie Goulding.
This evening, whose axis is to regenerate the planet over the next ten years through various initiatives, has the support of numerous stars. British presenter Clara Amfo returns to lead the gala as master of ceremonies alongside Daniel Dae Kim, an actor who was part of the series Lost and the film saga Divergent. During the gala, actors Rami Malek, Catherine O’Hara and Shailene Woodle will take the stage to present the awards. Historian and Earthshot Prize Council member Sir David Attenborough will also be in attendance. The Prince of Wales will be in charge of putting the finishing touches on the ceremony with a speech.
The fact that this gala is held in Boston has a strong significance as it is the birthplace of the 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy who is closely linked to this event despite his passing away in 1963. Why? The awards are inspired by the program Moonshot of people, which inspired millions of people to support the American space program.
The winners receive one million pounds as well as the support to be able to realize the solutions they propose in five areas: protect and restore nature, clean our air, revive our oceans, build a world free of waste and repair our climate.
