The President: The political situation in the country can change only in one way

There must be dialogue and compromise, not narrow party interests

According to President Rumen Radev, the political situation in the country can change only in one way – when the parties realize that there must be dialogue, compromise and a common view on the future of Bulgaria, and not on narrow party interests.

He told journalists in Kardzhali that in the previous parliament there was no desire for dialogue, in the last one the dialogue took place, but the attempts were for a minority government, which cannot happen in a parliamentary republic. “I think they are obliged for the third time,” Radev added.

He expressed hope that a new political formation would bring a stir, because, in his words, there will be no bond if there is no new way of thinking and awareness of the responsibility of all parties to the Bulgarian people.

Asked how he would comment on the registration of BSP for participation in the presidential vote, Radev replied that this was an indication of support.

Asked if he expects support from the electorate DPS, he was categorical: “Bulgarians are free citizens and can vote for whomever they choose. Of course, I expect support from, as you say, the electorate of the MRF. For me they are friends. They are my childhood friends and very good I know the attitude of these people, “Radev added.

He expressed hope for more fairer electionsbecause, he said, there is still vote buying. “I hope that the Ministry of Interior, together with the services, will go to an open briefing with all of you and explain the mechanisms by which this happened in the previous elections and which I expect will not happen in the upcoming elections,” the head of state said.

He is on a two-day visit to Kardzhali at the invitation of District Governor Daniel Delchev. His visit began with a brief meeting with the leadership of the district administration, continued with the presentation of flowers in front of the monument to Vasil Levski in the city center.

From there, Rumen Radev walked the streets of Kardzhali, going to the Regional History Museum, where he awarded the team of Sofia University “PR Slaveykov”, which won the championship a few days ago in the student world volleyball championship, held a few days ago in Belgrade. The head of state also examined the exposition of the museum in Kardzhali
