LEGION OF HONOR – Among the 483 people in the New Year promotion of the National Order of the Legion of Honor, published this Wednesday January 1 in the Official Journal, the presence of Jean-Francois Cirelli annoyed more than one.
Knight since 2006, he was elevated officer of the Legion of Honor by Prime Minister Édouard Philippe.
A former head of GDF-SUEZ, then of Engie, he is the current president of the French branch of the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, which manages 6,300 billion euros and finances most pension funds.
His name was brought to the fore with the current pension reform, which has crystallized tensions in the country since December 5.
Mediapart and Humanity revealed last month that a series of recommendations for this disputed reform had been sent to the government by the American company in June 2019, fueling suspicions of collusion.

Jean-François Cirelli also met Emmanuel Macron on July 10, 2019 during a meeting intended to encourage investment funds to finance the fight against global warming.
