The PP spokesperson, Elena Estévez, advances that she has just presented a motion through the Xeral Rexistro so that this matter can be dealt with in the next ordinary plenary session of the corporation. The mayor considers that the author of the popular “Hook”, which is published daily in FARO, has more than enough merits for this recognition. “It has been recognized in many areas, it stands out the obtaining of the Prize Fervenzas Literarias in the category of Banda Deseñada up to four times”, defends Elena Estévez. But above all he gives as an example the “Huge social support” that counts among the population of Bueu and their involvement in activities with the municipal schools or their participation with the Vou nun Bou troupe. “It is one of the figures of our town with the greatest projection and who bears the name of Bueu wherever he goes”, Argues the motion of the PP.
“Significant” places
The proposal states that this public recognition could be carried out through what is perhaps his most emblematic character: Dora. The alternative they propose is the creation of a large replica of this figure so that can be installed in a “significant” space in Bueu. Among those locations could be the Praza do Concello, Praza Massó or the María Eugenia gardens, in front of Banda do Río beach. “Dora is one of its most prominent characters and is represented throughout Galicia as a symbol of numerous causes, such as the demand for equality and the fight against cancer”, includes the text of the motion that will be debated in the plenary session of the month of June.
The Bueuesque artist over the years collaborated with the City Council in numerous activities, as in the contests and workshops organized by the ás Mulleres Information Center (CIM), the illustration of the municipal equality plans or the creation of the image for the Cabo Udra nature classroom, among other actions.
