Contaminations seem to be on the rise in New York in the United States while the rate of positivity for the coronavirus has risen slightly, according to American health authorities who are concerned about the Delta variant of the virus, which is more contagious, in the state.
According to State Department data, 0.76% of coronavirus tests performed on Sunday tested positive for Covid-19. This is the highest rate in a month, and authorities observe that the Delta variant is disproportionately present in diagnosed cases.

The chairman of the health commission, Mark Levin, noted that 44.4% of coronavirus cases in New York City were of the Delta variant, first spotted in India last year, and which is more contagious than other variants.
However, aside from this rise in the positivity rate, other pandemic statistics in New York City are moving in the right direction.

Only two deaths were attributed to the new coronavirus on Monday and the number of patients hospitalized for Covid-19 fell to 330.
With the relaxation of health restrictions, such as wearing a mask or meeting limits, experts stress that vaccination is essential to fight against Covid-19 and its mutations.
