However, according to recent news, the hacker agreed to collaborate with the Justice, leaving the preventive prison, where he is precisely one year.

Arrested in preventive detention since March 22, 2019, Rui Pinto will now begin to collaborate with the Portuguese justice system. According to information from TVI, the Portuguese hacker will start to work side by side with the elements of the PJ, daily, in the fight against phenomena of economic and financial crime that their computer intrusions have allowed to unveil in different areas of society.
TVI also reveals thatThis collaboration agreement, validated by the investigating judge Cláudia Pina in a three-page order, provides for mitigations to the extent of the sentence in view of the foreseeable future conviction for various illegitimate access crimes and, for now, the easing of coercion measures. Rui Pinto leaves the prison and lives in the PJ, safely 24 hours a day.

The hacker committed himself, however, to decrypt the 10 external disks that the PJ seized in Hungary, with terabytes of information, but which has yet to open. TVI also reports that there are suspicions that emails and other documentation contain real time bombs with regard to corruption in football and webs of influences in politics, in the business world, in banking and in the legal sector.
In a statement, lawyers William Bourdon, Francisco Teixeira da Mota and Luísa Teixeira da Mota added that they hope that “steps will be taken towards the total freedom of the constituent”, welcoming the revocation of the coercion measure.

Rui Pinto was accused by the Public Ministry, in September 2019, of crimes for illegitimate access, violation of correspondence, computer sabotage and extortion attempt. The creator of Football Leaks used the platform in order to expose and report various suspicious situations in football.
