SANTO DOMINGO.- Bartolo Alvarado, known as El Ciego de Nagua, icon of typical music, died this past Friday at 7:00 at night, his daughter, Verónica Reynoso reported.
The artist was admitted to a New York medical center later today after presenting kidney problems and other complications. El Ciego de Nagua lived in New York, where he received dialysis three times a week.
González Alvarado Pereira (Bartolo Alvarado or El Ciego de Nagua) was born in La Jagüita, in the Cabrera municipality, Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, Dominican Republic, on January 10, 1947, the son of Ramón Alvarado and Juana Pereira.
